Located about two hours north of Banff, near the stunning Abraham Lake, Rockies Heli offers a variety of helicopter tour packages year-round. Yes, you can even take a helicopter tour in the winter!
Their highly experienced pilots are also incredibly knowledgeable about the area, providing informative commentary throughout the flight so you can learn more about the breathtaking landscapes you’re flying over.
The reason why I think they are the best helicopter tours in Banff is because they are NOT in Banff per say. So way way less crowds. Big bonus is that Abraham Lake is my favorite lake for paddle-boarding and camping. It is a crown land zone so you can basically camp for free there + first come first serve so no need to book a year in advance.
Rockies Heli Canada fly in an area where it is almost just them. They also have different packages for different needs like just short flights or flights with drop off or a combinaison of flight, camping, horseback riding…
They do heli-elopements (or helicopter elopements) or even heli-weddings (helicopter weddings) where you can bring your guests, catering, music, whatever you can think about on top of the mountain to be alone with your partner or with your guests.
One of their most popular services is the surprise proposal. Rockies Heli Canada has partnered with several photographers, including myself, who specialize in surprise proposals, ensuring everyone works together to make your proposal truly unforgettable – everyone is in the loop except for the person being proposed to!
